You can change the date format also by giving , then write down dateFormat:"dd/mm/yy" like below

var date = new Date();
var currentMonth = date.getMonth();
var currentDate = date.getDate();
var currentYear = date.getFullYear();
$('#depart').datepicker({
minDate: new Date(currentYear, currentMonth, currentDate),
dateFormat: "dd/mm/yy" });
